All Things Unrelated

Fifty-four years ago today a little girl with a very devious mind snuck across the state line with a very cute young boy and got blood tests to obtain a marriage license. After a few small lies shadings of the truth, the license was obtained and the marriage did happen. On Wednesday, we will celebrate our 54th Anniversary with our children. These sort of marriages are doomed from the beginning, but somehow, we have survived and are still hanging in there. Our bodies are beginning to give out, but our minds are still in one piece each. (His mind had better agree with mine or I'll knock the stuffing out of him) Just kidding, he is my "Honey Bunny" and I love him more today than all those years ago.

Next on my unrelated list of stuff for today ---- The hubby had a total knee replacement three weeks ago and is beginning to get around on his own two feet with frequent rests and lots of Darvocet N 100. While he was in the hospital, I was reading the newspaper and came across an obituary in The Toledo Blade. There was a picture of a very handsome soldier from the World War I I think and a current picture of an elderly gentleman with this caption under the pictures. "Oh Crap, my name is finally in the obits." This is exactly what I would think, if my name were to appear in the obits!

Yesterday, we were out for an early dinner at P.F. Chang's (which is brand new in our area), but is well known to us from our time in Florida. Afterward, we stopped at a friend's house for a minute, but while leaving --- I must not have been paying attention to where I was going and I tripped and fell flat on my face in their cement driveway. I have always prided myself on my ability to recover from a stumble, but this time I went flying and hit about every place on a body that is on the anterior side. I actually hit my face on the cement and have a big ecchymotic area on my left cheek. Even though I am certain that nothing is broken, how am I going to explain a black and blue face to my friends at church in the morning?
I read on "Cathy's Place to Blog" that she is giving up blogging, at least for a while. Why do the people we love to read give up, while others with no talent keep going and going ---- like the Energizer Bunny"? I know I will miss her. How about you?
This is about it for my list of totally unrelated stuff today. I hope the muse will fall upon me again soon or I'll be joining Cathy.
Oh, yeah --- I made the bunnies in the picture.

Congratulations on your 54th. I think my wife and I are halfway there, celebrating our 27th this year, but I know it doesn't get any easier as you go along. Just more complicated. It is fun to celebrate togetherness.

I hope I'm not one of the Energizer bunny types.

Conratulations!!!! Like Dave, my hubby and I are also 1/2 way there. We're constantly seeing and hearing how amazing we must be to "still be together", I'd imagine you amaze people even more.
My parents just celebrated their 51st.
May both of you have many more years of togetherness.

Happy upcoming 54th wedding anniversary to you, Kacey ! That is a wonderful thing to be celebrating !

Glad hubby is beginning to get around on his won again after his knee replacement.

P.F. Chang's is yummy, isn't it ? my favorite is the hot and sour soup, the Chang's spicy chcicken, and the banana spring rolls for dessert !

OUCH to the driveway spill ! Sometimes arnica and bromelian, vitamin K cream can help.

I can totally understand about your husband feeling uncomfortable about my not-altogether-proper blog, Kacey. You are sweet to understand. It isn't for everyone.

Even I have gotten tired of it somewhat, and about one in three posts now are daily life things, like the old one used to be.
Soon it may be 2 in 3, but I will keep it anyway just because I want the freedom to be naughty occasionally ...

(I actually have a recipe for big chewy oatmeal-raisin cookies on it planned for tomorrow:)

Thank you for explaining.

If you want to leave a comment on my nice girl blog, I will mosey over here and say hello so we can stay in touch --

Genuinely,
Loving Annie

Dear Kacey,

Awwwww- those bun-buns are so cute! You are a woman of many talents, I see.

Congratulations on your very impressive 54th anniversary! I am in awe. I've never been married at all, you know, but I am an eternal optimist. Maybe I'll have time for such a pursuit after my son grows up- bass ackwards, I know, but hey, I'm whirling betty!

Hugs,
Betty

Congratulations!! How wonderful to be more in love after 54 years than when you were married!

The bunnies are just darling!! You are very talented with a needle and thread.

Now...PLEASE be careful!! I hope you are feeling better from your fall...I noticed when I fell last year that I was so achey in the next few days, even though I didn't even fall that hard...I guess this stuff starts in your 40's!

Aw Kacey,
I'm sorry you had that fall. Was it the shoes or did he trip you with his cane?
Happy 54th...and hope you have many more.
I've been with my partner now for 10 years...recently he was laid off...and I keep dreaming of arsenic and cyanide..
It takes a lot of love, patience, and strength of character to celebrate 54 years of marriage without hurting each other. Congratulations! (Thoughts don't count!)
Hope you feel better soon.

Hi, 1st time here. I enjoyed your blog because you are closer to my age than the average mom blogger. I'm so happy that you're happily married. It gives everyone hope. Sorry about your fall, my goodness. Nice to "meet" you!
