Finally Using my Specialty Machine

These are a couple of the seventeen blocks I used in a baby quilt. I have had my Bernina Artista machine for several years, but never really got busy and used the embroidery module. A couple of good friends told me that I was wasting the best part of my machine and got me going on this project. The critters are adorable and I alternated the embroidery blocks with the same blue and off white background and matching blue checkerboard nine patch blocks. It is very cute, but I don't have to hurry with the actual quilting, because nobody I know has had a baby boy lately. I thought that it would be great to be a couple of quilts ahead and ordered another expensive embroidery card online from eBay. I was so thrilled to win the bid on a "Precious Moments" card for about one third the original price, but was chagrined to find it did not fit my machine. $65.50 + shipping and it didn't fit! It was my first experience with eBay, so I want y'all to know that the seller refunded my money immediately without any flack. I was also happy to learn how to bid on eBay. My other half was worried about doing business online and through PayPal, but it went smooth as silk and the service was terrific. It is hard to start using all these electrical wonders at an advanced age. I am so happy to have lived long enough to see all the miracles young people take for granted. What do you suppose will happen in the next ten years?

That little mouse and his parachute are adorable! I'm not that interested in machine embroidery though, because anyone can produce the same results, and I'm egotistical enough to want what I make to be unique! Which is also why I use patterns only for ideas, usually, and take what I want and leave out what I don't, and make up the rest. The nuns warned us not to get too big for our britches, and here I am, bursting out of mine!

Oh Lord, Kacey...that is absolutely adorable. I swear if I could...I would get pregnant just to get a quilt like that. Alas...my baby-bearing days are over.
And to think you're self-taught! Just imagine what you will learn in the next 10 years...you are never too old...you've proved that!
Please show us the finished quilt!
How did the surgery go? did it happen yet?
I will keep my fingers crossed that everything goes well. You need a good bout of good luck going your way! Keep us up-dated.

Kacey, they are absolutely adorable! I agree w/ Matty-please show us the finished quilt. A friend made one in different white squares for Sarah, I think it's in a sealed box at her home. It was all different laces, textures, ribbons. It was always very special to us.

I have an aunt who worked at home on sewing projects, earning some contracts along the way along with decent money. Bernina was her machine of choice.

How cute! And just for the record, I don't give my credit card info to any business which DOESN'T use Paypal! Paypal is trustworthy- take it from one who is slow to trust.

Hugs,
